We decided to write this blog as an antidote to the disgusting, vile and homophobic trash that was “anonymously” written and posted on the internet about Diana Glassman and me in August, 2010. Our goal is fourfold: we want to tell our story; We want this blog to become a resource for others who have or will suffer from adult cyberbullying; We hope that others will share their own stories, resources, and successes; and perhaps, this blog may lead to legislation and actions that actually protect innocent people from this form of abuse.
We live in a cyberspace world now, where employers check potential hirees social network pages or google people’s names to see what shows up. Reference searches may not only include the names on an application anymore. We search for old and new friends online, and we have absolutely no control over what someone decides, for whatever reason, to write or blog about us.
We really want to draw attention to this horrific phenomenon. Please share this blog with your friends, write comments, thoughts and suggestions and may this never happen to you..........

I have been good friends with Roberta for over 40 years and I adore her. When I was sick or my husband was sick she supported me and helped me alot. She is understanding, compassionate, intellectually gifted. She is a gem!

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about this. This takes bullying to a new and more venomous level. Now, anyone can defame, libel, lie about you, your business and your personal life without any accountability. Something is very wrong here. Oh, about the bully......this person is obviously a sicko. Perhaps you can take some comfort in knowing that he/she must suffer daily as no one who is happy and loved would ever write something like this.
ReplyDeleteThis is Diana writing...Roberta's "other half" and the other victim of the "infamous", disturbing, disgusting blogs written about us, after we pulled out of a real estate deal. For the record, we were in contract with this vile person for a week and it was during the inspection period that we cancelled the contract. It was really a very typical real estate transaction....that's why there are inspection periods after all, but the person we were in contract with became furious and decided to slam us on the internet. She is obviously a very angry, disturbed, homophobic person and we both attempted to ignore her blog for a long time, hoping it would go away. Unfortunately, it hasn't and so Roberta has put up her own blog in an effort to tell the truth. It's too bad that one's energy has to be engaged in this defensive posture and in reacting to this piece of trash, but such is life in the internet age. Fortunately for us all, there are still many wonderful people with integrity and love in their hearts to counteract such negative energy. And many thanks to all who have lent their support.

ReplyDeleteRoberta is a very honest person and very smart. She is sensitive to other people and tries to work things out and does not like feeling stressed out. I do not agree that a cyber bully should be allowed free speech in order to state their issues. It should be illegal to bash others publicly online. I try and keep my name offline for privacy that is being lost in this world daily. I would be just as mad if someone did this to me. Anyone buying a house has the right to change their mind since it is a long term commitment and if it does not feel right, then get out fast. It is your money in the end and your life.
